Incontriamo Dante la prima volta nel libro di Mav e Eli, dove il ragazzo fa la guardia alla stanza di Matty durante la terapia in ospedale; da subito capiamo che è un tipo sfacciato e un pò sbruffone ma un grande combattente e soprattutto ha un forte istinto che gli fa capire le intenzioni di chi gli sta davanti.
Magnus invece è ....il nonno di Matty.
Mi spiego: la mamma di Matty è morta all'età di 18 anni uccisa dal padre di Tate e per questo il ragazzo ha portato in salvo il bambino; alla fine del terzo libro Tate e Hawke si mettono in contatto con Magnus, che credeva di aver perso figlia e nipote, per renderlo parte della loro famiglia.
A dispetto del suo ruolo però Magnus è un ranger di 40 anni e a guardarlo tutto gli diresti fuorchè "Ciao Nonno" ^_^
Dante e Magnus si incontrano proprio durante i turni di guardia a Matty e fin da subito Dante inizia a provocare l'uomo con allusioni sessuali di vario tipo, a cui però il ranger non risponde, facendo incavolare il ragazzo.
Vanno avanti così per settimane, con Magnus che non riesce a spiegarsi questa improvvisa nuova attrazione verso gli uomini e Dante che è irritato perchè non riesce a smuovere la maschera di perfezione di Magnus.
Poi Magnus viene chiamato a testimoniare per un processo di sfruttamento minorile e Ronin assegna a Dante il compito di accompagnarlo e proteggerlo; da qui in poi i due uomini impareranno a conoscersi e scopriremo così il passato di Dante e i ricordi di Magnus sulla figlia prematuramente scomparsa.
La chimica tra i due è palpabile e ho amato il fatto che due uomini così diversi, con passati ed esperienze totalmente opposte, riescano a trovare un punto di incontro per costruire qualcosa insieme.
I prossimi protagonisti saranno Cain e Ethan e inutile dire che sono curiosissima ^_^
